Born in Lovell, Wyoming, with a father and (3) brothers as dentists, he knew he wanted to be in the healthcare field.  Graduating from the University of Wyoming with his Bachelors of Science, Dr. Welch earned his Medical degree, cum laude from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.   After completing his internship at Creighton University Family Practice and his residency at the University of Minnesota, Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Welch got the opportunity to move back to Wyoming.

Dr. Welch is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.   Located in the Cathcart Health Center, Dr. Welch sees patients of all ages, offering complete eye care for the entire family.

Specializing in cataract surgery, Dr. Welch is proud to offer his patients cataract surgery at a higher level.  He offers his patients the choice of customized cataract surgery with the new, state of the art, ORA System Technology.  Dr. Welch is the first and only surgeon in Wyoming to offer this technology, which allows him to tailor the cataract surgery to each patient’s unique eye.  He can also correct astigmatism with a Toric Intraocular Advanced Lens.

Dr. Barry Welch and his wife Lori, have five children and 9 grandchildren.   He is active in his church, enjoys singing, boating, biking and physical fitness.
